Welcome from our Head of School |

Dear Parents,
You are about to embark on a wonderful educational journey at West Side Montessori School. These first years of your educational expedition are the foundation for a lifetime of learning. We take our job as your partners in this endeavor very seriously indeed. And while we are serious about our responsibility to you, our school environment is warm and welcoming, full of the excitement, discovery and sheer joy of learning about yourself and others. This is a place where children are given the language and structure to foster their independence and creativity. Where they learn to participate in a community of learners, where they use their own minds to solve problems. All of this takes place with ease because, as Maria Montessori would say, our school environment is "prepared" to help each child develop and grow individually at his/her own pace, in her/his own style and as part of a learning community of children.
This is a place for families to grow as well. Our families are given the support to make two very important transitions. The first transition is from parenting a toddler to parenting a child in "school". We have support systems in place to provide knowledge and skills, answer questions and provide guidance along your path. The second transition is to help you make informed decisions about your child's ongoing school. We provide information and personal support to families as they sort through their options and find the best fit for their child.
I appreciate your interest in West Side Montessori School and look forward to getting to know you and your children through the admissions process.
