We believe it is our responsibility to help parents and children make
the smoothest transition to their next school. Our goal is to help you
find the school that is the “best fit” for your child and your family and to
provide you with information and guidance to de-mystify the process.
The Head of School sends a series of newsletters to each family
containing up to the minute information about applying to ongoing
independent and public schools. She hosts panel discussions where you
hear first hand from WSMS families who have already made the transition,
and she meets with each family to help them sort through and make the
best choices at each decision point. Our experienced and caring classroom
teachers are partners in the process as well. They not only provide your
child with a strong foundation for learning how to learn, they can help
you better understand your child’s strengths and learning style. We are
committed to helping each family select the best possible next school for
their child.
We are deeply committed to working in partnership with parents.
WSMS workshops help parents better understand their child’s
temperament, learning style and developmental needs in relation to family
and school dynamics. As part of our support system for families, the Jewish
Board of Family and Children’s Services provides an on-site mental health
consultation program. This multi-faceted program for staff, parents and
children focuses on child development issues, adult-child interactions, and
the promotion of school and family relationships which enhance emotional
development. Parents meet confidentially and without charge with either
of our social workers to discuss any issue.
Our Parents Association raises the funds for our Financial Aid program
and sponsors all events. Every parent is a Parents Association member. The
Board of Trustees, which sets policy for the School and is responsible for its
financial stability, is elected by the parents and staff from the parent body.
