When you visit different Montessori schools, you might think you’re looking at different kinds of Montessori. What you’re really seeing is how Montessori practices are responsive to a community of parents, teachers and children. In all these programs the essence is Montessori. This flexibility explains why Montessori schools are so widespread; they are found on every inhabited continent. In the U.S. there are thousands of independent and public Montessori schools, each reflecting its own community.

West Side Montessori School reflects the eclectic nature of the West Side. We are open to inquiry and change. We ask questions of ourselves. We carefully complement our Montessori materials with those emanating from recent developments in education. For example, our literacy program is a Whole Language program. Our math program is congruent with the standards set forth by the National Council for Teachers of Math.
